The purpose of IPConfig is to provide a simple yet effective way of seeing one?s IP addresses, internal and external. This tool is designed and programmed in Visual Basic.NET and is displayed in a nice user interface.

IP (Internet Protocol) address is the 4 octets (32-bit) address used to identify your computer network and equipements (such as desktop computer, notebook, router, switch, printer)? in your network or Internet. It?s also called as IPv4 (Internet Protocol Version 4).

IP address is assigned to network card (LAN card) on your desktop computer or notebook to communicate with other network devices.

?How to Set IP Address by manual ?

1. Click “Start”?then?select “Control Panel”
2. under Control Panel window, double click on “Network Connections”
3. Right-click correct Local Area Connection by identifying correct network card and then click “Properties”.



4. Select “Use the following IP address” and type IP address in box



5. Click “OK” when finished assigned.

DHCP?is a protocol used by networked devices to obtain various parameters necessary for the clients to operate in an Internet Protocol (IP) network. By using this protocol, system administration?use?to added?IP automatic?to the network with minimal and no need?manual configurations.

What is DHCP?purpose ??

The overall purpose of this is to reduce the work necessary to administer a large IP network. The most significant piece of information distributed in this manner is the IP address.

• dynamic allocation: A network administrator assigns a range of IP addresses to DHCP, and each client computer on the LAN has its IP software configured to request an IP address from the DHCP server?while connect to?network by cable or wi-fi.



• automatic allocation: The DHCP server permanently assigns a free IP address to a requesting client from the range?defined by the administrator.
• manual allocation: The DHCP server allocates an IP address based on a table with MAC address -?config by?administrator. Only requesting clients with a MAC address listed in this table will be allocated an IP address.
