Soundbase is an all in one tool to manage, edit and play your music collection. Soundbase uses the Microsoft® DirectShow® architecture. DirectShow provides high-quality capture and playback of multimedia streams. It supports a wide variety of formats, including MPEG Audio Layer-3 (MP3), OGG Vorbis (OGG), Monkey Audio (APE), and FLAC sound files. It automatically detects and uses audio acceleration hardware when available, but also supports systems without acceleration hardware.
This subsystem, an integrated part of windows, is used by most players, but never before integrated into one simple executable. Soundbase basic installation is less then 2mb in size (5mb with the basic skins installed), but still allows soundbase to play any audio file that your windows media player plays.
