Windows Can’t Detect External USB Hard Drive

I try to connect Exter USB hard disk and not things happen !

“I’m using Windows XP SP2 and try to use External USB hard disk, It can detect with some computer but some computer can’t found anything.  I found green power on USB hard disk, but why can’t use.”

Try to check step by step below;

Check USB Driver

  1. Right-click on “My Computer” then select “Properties”
  2. Select tab “Hardware” then click “Device Manager”
  3. Check “Universal Serial Bus controllers” if found  “!”
  4. Right-click on “!” and then select “Update Driver”
  5. Select “Yes, this time only” and then click “Next”
  6. Select “Install the software automatic”  (try to update and re-install USB port)

If can’t,  try to add more power

  1. Using additional power from your USB Hard Drive (Adapter)
  2. Using additional cable (2 USB port in one cable)
